Love Wins
(Disclaimer: I have not read this book. But, I have seen enough of Bell’s comments and other commentary and critique to post this. This post is more to direct you to helpful resources.)
So, if you follow theological discussions and popular religious events, you’ll know that this week, there has been a firestorm over a book called Love Wins by Rob Bell. Bell is a pastor of a large church in Michigan and has written books including Velvet Elvis and Sex God. In his newest, Love Wins, Bell questions, basically, whether Hell is real, and suggests that everyone goes to heaven because God’s love will win everyone over post-mortem. This premise is dangerous and un-biblical. The results of this conversation have eternal consequences. Bell has a lot of influence, especially in the younger generations. Therefore, it’s worth finding out about. It’s worth thinking about. And it’s worth knowing what Scripture says about the truth of heaven and hell. Scripture teaches that there is ONE way to heaven, and that is through Jesus. Everyone else who rejects Jesus will be in hell.
Here are a bunch of resources to help understand the discussion and how to think critically through it.
